A SKETCH OF THE TIMES.
No more my friends of vain applause,
Nor complemental rhymes:
Come muse, let's call another cause
And sing about the times.
  For all the ages ever known,
The present is the oddest;
As all the men are honest grown,
And all the women's modest.
  No lawyers now are fond of fees,
Nor clergy of their dues;
Few people at the plays one sees,
At churches! what crowded pews.
. . . [38 lines]
Just turn the picture upside down,
I fear you'll see the right on't.
